Why Credentials Matter

Not every licensed real estate agent is a REALTOR®. Only members of the National Association of REALTORS® can use that title — and with membership comes a binding commitment to NAR's Code of Ethics and professional standards. But not every REALTOR® invests in the advanced education and specialized training that designations require. Each credential listed on this page was earned through coursework, examinations, and demonstrated experience. They are not honorary titles. They are proof of work.

At Visions First Realty, Rick Gruebele holds an extensive portfolio of real estate designations, certifications, and the NAR C2EX Endorsement — one of the most comprehensive credential stacks of any independent broker in Northern Wisconsin. Heidi Hicks holds the NAR C2EX Commitment to Excellence Endorsement. Together they bring specialized expertise across buyer representation, seller representation, resort and second home properties, pricing strategy, digital marketing, fair housing, and residential real estate practice.

What does that mean for you? It means the REALTOR® sitting across the table from you has done the work — and knows what they are doing in Ashland County, Bayfield County, and Northern Wisconsin real estate.

Commitment to Excellence Endorsement

C2EX is not a designation, certification, or course — it is an Endorsement from NAR. REALTORS® who earn the C2EX Endorsement are recognized by NAR as committed to practicing real estate at the highest professional standard. It covers 10 core competencies including customer service, technology, data privacy, advocacy, and ethics — and must be actively maintained, not earned once and forgotten.

Certified Residential Specialist

The CRS designation is the highest credential awarded in residential sales. Fewer than 3% of all REALTORS® in the United States hold this designation. Earning it requires a combination of advanced education and a proven track record of residential transactions — it cannot be purchased or awarded, it must be earned.

Accredited Buyer’s Representative

The ABR designation means Rick has completed specialized training in representing buyers — not just showing houses, but negotiating on your behalf, understanding your rights in a transaction, and navigating the full purchase process from offer to close. If you are buying property in Northern Wisconsin, this matters.

Seller Representative Specialist

The SRS designation is the counterpart to the ABR — specialized training specifically in representing sellers. Pricing strategy, marketing, negotiation, disclosure requirements, and closing — the SRS curriculum covers what it takes to represent a seller's interests effectively from the first conversation to the closing table.

Resort & Second Home Property Specialist

This designation is particularly relevant in Northern Wisconsin. The RSPS certification covers the unique considerations of resort properties, vacation homes, and second homes — including investment potential, seasonal access, rental income considerations, and the lifestyle factors that drive buyers in markets like Lake Superior's South Shore. Most agents in this market do not hold this designation.

Pricing Strategy Advisor

The PSA certification covers the science and methodology behind accurate property valuation. In a market as diverse as Northern Wisconsin — where a lakefront cabin and a residential home two miles away can have completely different valuation dynamics — accurate pricing is everything. Overpricing costs sellers time. Underpricing costs them money. The PSA designation means Rick knows the difference.

Graduate, REALTOR® Institute

The GRI designation is one of the most comprehensive real estate education programs available — covering contracts, law, finance, technology, and professional standards at an advanced level. Agents who hold the GRI have a deeper working knowledge of the legal and financial frameworks that govern real estate transactions in Wisconsin.

NAR e-PRO® Certification

The e-PRO® certification covers digital marketing, technology tools, data security, and online client communication. In a market where buyers from Minneapolis, Chicago, and across the Midwest are searching for Northern Wisconsin properties online before they ever visit, digital expertise is not optional — it is how buyers find your listing.

At Home With Diversity®

The AHWD certification covers fair housing law, cultural competency, and inclusive business practices. Every buyer and every seller at Visions First Realty receives the same professional representation — regardless of background, origin, or circumstance. Fair housing is not a policy here. It is who we are.
